Upcoming Christmas Series: Christmas Feels
Christmas feels? You might be asking yourself, "What kind of a Christmas series is this?" It might be more helpful to Christmas 2020 then you realize. Christmas is about Jesus. Jesus who was born, lived, died, rose, and is returning. Jesus who gave us the pattern and then the command to be about disciple-making. Not sure what you think about when you hear the topic of making disciples, but for many the idea of a bible study comes to mind. Bible studies are good for sure. Yet, for Paul he said, "Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ (Colossians 1:28)." Maturing in Christ, or growing as a disciple of Jesus, requires us to pay attention to our feelings as well as our studies. The bible is full of emotions. Emotions which are gauges of our hearts. They tell us something about us. They tell us something about what or who is important. Christmas within a pandemic leads to us experiencing all types of emotions. From one moment to the next it seems like one is on a rollercoaster of emotions. Jesus experienced emotions.
So, here we go. We are going to look at emotions from the bible this Chrsitmas season. Let's stop potentially feeling guilty about our emotions and start allowing our emotions to lead us into greater relationship with Jesus and others.
